Running Around Paris

It's been a while since our last blog post, and we have no excuse—except that we've been pretty busy running around Paris!

I fulfilled a longtime dream of running a great long distance race this winter, when I ran the Paris Half Marathon in March. Perrine and Milo as well as grandpa Jean-Guy came out to root for me, and reward me with hugs at the end. I achieved my goal of breaking 2 hours and got a serious case of the running bug, which might just be permanent.

I had some fun training runs in the snow this winter, and we sure did have a lot of it. Milo hasn't really shown much appreciation for snow yet, more like frustration, but I'm sure that will change later...

I had my 36th Birthday in January, for which Perrine treated me with a special sushi meal

And baked me not only a chocolate cake, but coconut dream bars... my Minnesota favorite dessert.

We had a fun visit with friends Nico and Severine and their kids Anaïs and William...

Perrine baked delicious shortbread hearts for Valentines Day...

Our friend Aziliz, who lives in Ireland now with husband Pol and daughter Onenn, stopped over for a tea and a quick book...

Milo is lucky to have lots of book readers dropping over to the apartment - auntie Lucie and her boyfriend Frédéric were up in Paris from Toulouse recently and swung by for a tasty brunch and lovely visit.

And when the weather improved (briefly) recently, we took a walk along the Canal which turned out to be a lot of fun.



Behold! A traveling wine boat! 'Wines from l'Yonne' reads their sign, a little known part of Burgundy. The boat uses rivers and canals to transport and sell their wine. We couldn't resist going in for a tasting...

Mom and dad had fun, and Milo thought it was cool too for a while, but then started getting into some monkey business, like trying to drive the boat away!

The captain had to ask Milo to keep the boat at quay, othewise he'd never be able to sell all the wine he'd shipped up to Paris. Milo got bored then, and started to get very silly. It was definitely time to go!

Milo finally calmed down when we sat down to watch the sunset and toss a few pebbles in the canal. It was a perfect end to a fun day of running around Paris.
